Soft Lens Care Guide

1) Quick Safety

If anything feels wrong, remove the lens first. Then evaluate.

Emergency

Remove lenses if eyes are red, painful, sensitive to light, or vision becomes blurry.

Call us today

If symptoms don’t improve within 30–60 minutes after removal.

Carry a backup

Always keep glasses and a small bottle of approved solution when outside.

STOP-Rule: Severe pain, light sensitivity, white spot on the cornea, or sudden vision drop → remove lens and seek urgent care.

2) Product Description

What these lenses are, and what comes inside the package.

What’s in the blister / vial?

Soft contact lenses are supplied sterile in vials or blister packs containing 0.9% borate-buffered saline. Some blister packs may also contain Poloxamer 407 NF (a wetting agent).

Note: Never rinse lenses with tap water. Only use approved solutions.

Lens types covered by this IFU

This guidance applies to soft lenses designed for optical correction:

Spherical (myopia/hyperopia)
Toric (astigmatism)
Multifocal (presbyopia)
Some specialty soft designs prescribed by your eye care professional

3) Indications

When soft contact lenses are appropriate.

Spherical & Toric correction

For correction of refractive ametropia. As a practical guide:

Spherical lenses may be suitable for low astigmatism (often up to ~0.75D depending on vision).
Toric lenses are used when astigmatism needs specific cylindrical correction for stable clarity.

Tip: Blurry vision that rotates (clear → blur → clear) may indicate a toric lens rotation issue.

Presbyopia (multifocal)

For near and distance vision correction for presbyopic patients, based on your prescribed add power.

Allow a short adaptation period: the brain learns the new visual system.
Good lighting improves near clarity for all presbyopes.

4) Contraindications

Do not wear lenses in these situations.

DO NOT WEAR LENSES if you have:

Acute inflammation or infection (red eye, discharge, severe irritation)
Severe dry eye syndrome with pain/burning that persists
Corneal hypoesthesia (reduced corneal sensitivity)
Any active corneal infection or ulcer history without clearance
Systemic disease affecting the eyes (as advised by your doctor)

Temporary “no-lens days”

Avoid lens wear during:

Fever, flu, severe allergy flare
Heavy smoke/dust exposure
Eye injury, chemical exposure, or after eye procedures unless cleared

5) Hygiene & Water Rules

The most important safety section. Water is the enemy of contact lenses.

Hand washing (best practice)

Wash hands with soap, then rinse well.
Dry with a lint-free towel (no tissue fibers).
Avoid oily soaps/creams before handling lenses.

Water safety (strict rule)

Never expose lenses to:

Tap water, bottled water, distilled water
Swimming pools, sea, hot tubs
Showering with lenses (risk of contamination)

Why? Water can carry microorganisms that may cause severe, sight-threatening infections.

Makeup / skincare order

Insert lenses first, then apply makeup.
Remove lenses before removing makeup.
Avoid applying eyeliner on the waterline (reduces tear film stability).

6) Wearing Schedule

A safe adaptation plan helps comfort and reduces dryness.

Suggested adaptation (example)

This is a general example. Follow your prescription plan:

Day 1: 3–4 hours
Day 2: 5–6 hours
Day 3: 7–8 hours
Day 4+: increase gradually if comfortable

Golden rule: Discomfort is a signal—do not “push through” pain.

Sleeping with lenses

Do not sleep in lenses unless your lens is specifically approved and prescribed for overnight wear. Overnight wear reduces oxygen and increases infection risk.

7) Cleaning & Storage

Correct cleaning protects the cornea and keeps lenses comfortable.

Daily routine (reusable lenses)

Rub & rinse each side with approved multipurpose solution (unless your doctor says otherwise).
Fill the case with fresh solution every time.
Never top off (do not add new solution to old solution).

Lens case hygiene

After inserting lenses: empty case, rinse with solution (not water), air-dry open.
Replace case every 1–3 months.

Daily disposables

Daily lenses are single-use. Discard after removal. Do not store or reuse.

8) Do’s & Don’ts

Simple checklist that prevents most complications.

Do’s (recommended)

Keep backup glasses.
Use lubricating drops compatible with contact lenses if advised.
Attend follow-ups for fit, dryness, and prescription checks.
Replace lenses on schedule (daily / bi-weekly / monthly).

Don’ts (avoid)

Don’t use tap water.
Don’t share lenses.
Don’t wear lenses when sick, heavily allergic, or with red eyes.
Don’t use expired solutions.

9) Troubleshooting

Most issues are solvable with correct diagnosis.

Dryness / burning

Take breaks and blink fully (especially on screens).
Use compatible lubricating drops (ask us which).
Reduce exposure to air conditioning/fans.

If dryness is daily: you may need a different material, base curve, or wearing schedule.

Fogging / blurry vision

Check if the lens is inside-out.
Rinse with approved solution and reinsert.
If toric: rotating blur may indicate stabilization/fit adjustment needed.

Lens feels “stuck”

Use lubricating drops, blink, and gently massage eyelid.
Never pull a dry lens directly.

Severe pain: remove and contact us immediately.

10) When to Call Us

These are warning signs that should not be ignored.

Urgent warning signs

Remove lenses and contact us if you have:

Moderate–severe pain
Light sensitivity (photophobia)
Persistent redness or discharge
Sudden decrease in vision
White spot on cornea
